Throughout my professional career, teaching has been my passion. I dedicated many years to teaching in Blackpool and Fleetwood, gaining insight into the struggles that many families endure and the subsequent impact on children’s learning.

For nearly a decade, I had the privilege of leading a primary school in Preston as its headteacher. During this transformative period, we embarked on a journey of school improvement, guided by external advisers whose mentorship and constructive scrutiny were indispensable.

Subsequently, I joined Lancashire County Council’s school advisory team, working as a school adviser for five years. In this role, I relished the opportunity to assist senior leaders, middle leaders, teachers and governors by employing a blend of coaching and training methodologies. I engaged with a diverse array of schools, and tailoring my approach to their unique requirements was fundamental in fostering fruitful partnerships.

In my most recent role as an HMI in the North West, I have conducted inspections across a spectrum of educational institutions, including primary and special schools, as well as Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers in various settings such as community, academy, church, and independent schools. The comprehensive training I have received has sharpened my focus on the nuances of school improvement. As I continue my journey as a contracted Ofsted inspector, my dedication to enhancing educational standards remains steadfast.
